Hood’s Texas Brigade earned a legendary reputation for its bravery and fighting spirit during the Civil War, but behind the famous name are the personal stories of the men who fought within its ranks. At Civil War Experience, we are dedicated to bringing these soldiers' experiences to life, starting with the vivid recollections of Val C. Giles from the 4th Texas Infantry. His journey from the Texas frontier to the war's most intense battles offers a window into the realities of life as a Confederate soldier.
As we continue to expand this section, we will soon be adding the personal accounts of other soldiers from Hood’s Texas Brigade, including D.U. Barziza, George A. Branard, Tactitus Clay, and J.B. Polley. Through their own words, we capture the emotions, challenges, and heroism of these men as they faced the hardships of war. Our goal is to provide an immersive and personal connection to their lives, far beyond the battlefields and famous names, allowing modern audiences to identify with their experiences.
Stay tuned as we continue to build out the stories of these brave Texans who gave so much during the War Between the States.
